Quade Kelley, a determined and curious neurodivergent student-athlete, embraces a name inspired by the compass, reflecting his journey to uncover personal gifts and interests. Traveling to 12 countries by three months old, Quade's name is inspired by exploration and directional choices and based on the Latin/Dutch word “four,” relating to the points of a compass. Quade’s quest for his personal legend aligns with four cardinal aspects: Service, Learning, Exploration, and Athletics, symbolizing Christian values and his chosen life passions.
As a neurodivergent learner, visual cues and exploration fuel Quade's learning, leading to remarkable experiences as a National Youth Reporter, History Bee Champion, Olympic Development Program Athlete, Youth Book Reviewer, City Youth Commissioner, and Congressional Award Bronze Medalist. The project begins with the compass and explores interconnectedness through the myth of “Six Degrees of Separation.” Highlighting Quade's role as a connector, relationships are mapped in string art, demonstrating how his internal map has led to the passionate pursuit of information and link to leaders in civics, business, sport, art, and literature.
Utilizing a QR code, Quade integrated their network into the PRS school community, averaging 3.8 connections and fostering meaningful links for classmates. Guided by mentors and diverse encounters, Quade envisions a future where his compass directs his choices, shaping his identity while becoming a positive guiding light in his community and the world.
